Medicare or my Insurance pay for this?
HOW DO I GET MY PRODUCTS?
OnlineMedSupplies.com, a division of Centreville Medical
Arts DME, provides a quick and easy way for you to inquire about
medical products online and have them mailed directly to your
home. We verify your insurance and then contact you to let you
know if your insurance will cover the item(s) you requested. We
then reach out to your doctor to obtain any necessary forms and
prescriptions. Once we have received the information we will
ship your item to you for FREE, usually within 48 hours!
Some of our products may require a doctor’s visit before the
prescription is issued. We let you know in advance if a visit is
needed, however in most cases you won't have to make an extra
trip.
You will see that our products can help you manage your pain so
that you can get your life back. Depending on your insurance
coverage, you may
qualify for products for little or no cost at all!
DOES MEDICARE COVER THE COST?
Medicare requires you to pay a deductible for any covered
medical services and/or supplies each year. When the deductible
has been met, Medicare pays 80% of the allowed amount for your
supplies. If you have secondary insurance we'll handle filing
all the paperwork for you as well. Most secondary insurance
plans cover some portion of the remaining balance. Any remaining
balance can be paid in small monthly increments to suit your
budget. Please don't hesitate to call us to make arrangements
for any monies due after your Medicare and secondary insurance
benefits have been exhausted. We'll gladly verify your Medicare
coverage to see if you qualify before your order is full-filled
and let you know if you have met your deductible.
WILL MY PRIVATE HEALTH INSURANCE
COVER THE COST?
In most cases your private health insurance will cover the
supplies. Depending on your policy you may or may not have to
pay anything out of pocket. We'll verify your coverage for the
supplies you're requesting beforehand to see if your insurance
covers the item and what you may be required to pay, such as
co-pay, co-insurance and/or deductible. We'll gladly work with
you on any remaining balance and can set up payment plans that
suit your budget.
I
AM INTERESTED IN ORDERING SUPPLIES, WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO?
First,
to start the ordering process. Once we receive your order one of
our Personal Patient Advocates will verify your coverage and
call you to let you know if you qualify and what out of pocket
expenses you may have, if any at all. At that point if you
decide to go forward we will contact your physician to obtain
the necessary documents needed for your particular supply. Since
each supply is different, the requirements from your doctor will
differ depending on what item you order. Once we get your
written order from your physician we will again contact you to
arrange shipment of your item and tell you of anything else that
may be required of you, such as the required HIPAA forms.
WHAT ELSE MUST I DO AFTER I ORDER?
We will need you to first sign and return some basic HIPAA forms
required by the government and are the same type of forms you
sign at your doctor's office. We will email you the forms and
confirm that you've received them. You may mail or fax them back
to our office so we can complete your order.
DO
YOU SUPPLY OTHER ITEMS BESIDES THE ULTIMA 20 TENS?
Yes, we have many items to help relieve your back pain,
including items to treat back injuries, revision therapy,
multi-level fusion/decompression, laminectomy, posterior lateral
fusion, spondylolysis, spondylolisthesis. Ask your doctor what
item would be best for your condition and then place your order
online for fast courteous service with no headaches.
WHAT IS THE MOST EFFECTIVE WAY TO USE A TENS?
To achieve the best results of TENS therapy, it is important to
remember that TENS merely activates the body's own pain-fighting
mechanism. Placing electrodes directly over or around the
painful area delivers pain-blocking current to the nerves
leading to that area. Some healthcare professionals have found
that placing the electrodes along acupuncture points is also
effective. Also, it is good to vary the placement of the
electrodes each treatment to avoid skin irritation.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE FOR TENS TREATMENT TO PRODUCE RESULTS?
In most cases, studies show that it takes roughly 30 minutes for
TENS treatment to begin to relieve pain. However, for
conventional, high frequency TENS treatment, there is no set
treatment limit. Some patients find hours of pain relief from
short 30-to-60 minute sessions. Others use their TENS units for
several hours a day or all day, depending on the pain generated
by daily activities. Always use your TENS unit according to your
physician's directions.
WHEN CAN TENS TREATMENT BE ADMINISTERED?
TENS can be administered any time of day or night. It is
recommended that TENS not be used while sleeping. This is simply
because movement during sleep may cause electrodes to come off
or be pressed into the flesh, causing skin irritation. However,
always use your TENS unit according to your physician's
directions.
DOES TENS TREATMENT HAVE ANY RISKS OR SIDE EFFECTS?
Unlike surgery or prescription drugs, TENS is virtually risk
free from injury, side effects or addiction. The low-volt
electrical current delivered by the electrodes only penetrates
the skin to the level of the nerve fibers, usually only one to
two inches. This poses no danger to most individuals. However,
those with cardiac conditions and/or pacemakers, and pregnant
women should consult their doctors before using TENS. Also, neck
and head pain that requires locating electrodes on these areas
of the body should be conducted only with the consent of a
physician. Use caution when you drive or operate heavy
machinery. Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation, or
TENS, is the use of electric current produced by a device to
stimulate the nerves for therapeutic purposes. TENS by
definition covers the complete range of transcutaneously applied
currents used for nerve excitation although the term is often
used with a more restrictive intent, namely to describe the kind
of pulses produced by portable stimulators used to treat pain.
The unit is usually connected to the skin using electrodes. A
typical TENS unit is able to modulate pulse width, frequency and
intensity.
Electrical stimulation for pain control was used in ancient
Greece. It was reported by Scribonius Largus that pain was
relieved by standing on an electrical fish at the seashore. In
the 16th through the 18th century various electrostatic devices
were used for headache and other pains. Benjamin Franklin was a
proponent of this method for pain relief. In the19th century a
device called the electreat, along with numerous other devices
were used for pain control and cancer cures.
Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation, or TENS, is a
highly effective treatment for chronic and acute pain. It is
used extensively and recommended by sports coaches,
physiotherapy, pain clinics, doctors and other medical
practitioners. A TENS unit will relieve pain, you should notice
immediate results, and you can leave on for hours a day and for
many the relief is dramatic.
There is nothing “magic” about a TENS unit. TENS is intended to
be used to relieve pain. The use of this technology is broadly
applied in many areas that include: sports medicine,
chiropractic care, and rehabilitation centers. Senior living
communities utilize the therapy and it can also be used at home.

*Generally, you
pay 20% of the Medicare-approved amount after you pay your
Medicare Part B deductible for the year ($162 in 2011). Medicare
pays the other 80%. The Medicare-approved amount is the lower of
the actual charge for the item or the fee Medicare sets for the
item. However, the amount you pay may vary because Medicare pays
for different kinds of durable medical equipment in different
ways. You may be able to rent or buy the equipment. |
